The New Generation Awards are a celebration of exceptional and innovative result-driven marketing campaigns and we are so proud to have secured 5 awards for our beloved GranBoks campaign.

“Our GranBoks campaigns for Castle Lager is a perfect representation of Retroviral’s ability to conceptualise and develop agile, cost-effective, content that delivers earned impact” says Pippa Misplon, MD of Retroviral. “This campaign was pitched with just 10 days to execute, to be live in time for the Springboks’ first match at the Rugby World Cup 2023.”

The campaign was arguably one of the most successful Rugby World Cup PR campaigns of the year as it reached 51.6m South Africans, generated more than R4m in earned media, and – most importantly – resulted in the Castle Lager cutting through the ‘Springbok sponsor sameness’ clutter and led to the brand having the greatest sponsor share of voice at 48% of the total (double the next best) of all Green and Gold sponsors (50+) during Rugby World Cup 2023.
