BB Bakeries: ‘The Taste of Home’

Sep 5, 2024

Retroviral and Pretty Neat TV create beautiful love story from BB Bakeries to KZN.

Retroviral were tasked with creating a film that will speak to the rich tapestry that is KZN – it’s a cultural melting pot; South Africa’s home away from home.

In light of the many challenges that the province has faced, BB Bakeries wanted to pay tribute to the place they call home, and remind everyone, especially the people of KZN, of its beauty and majesty. And that it will always be home.

“We leaned into deep truths that we many of us can relate to about food – food is deeply intertwined with home, identity and community” says Koketso Masisi, Creative Director of Retroviral.

With over 170 years in the area, BB Bakeries Bread is more than a staple; it’s a symbol of the rich culture and heritage of KZN.

“As a brand deeply rooted in this community, BB Bakeries is committed to supporting the people who have supported us. Our story is intertwined with that of KZN and everyone who lives here,” says Stephanie Hoy, Marketing Executive Premier FMCG.

This film serves as a reminder that by choosing BB Bakeries, you’re not just buying bread; you’re contributing to a legacy firmly planted in KZN.

The Manifesto reads:

“The story of BB Bakeries started with a promise we made in 1851.

It’s a promise that we keep every day when you invite us into your homes.

This is our love letter to the people, the sights and the taste of home.

With love, BB Bakeries.”
