Cutting through the Festive Season clutter, Russell Hobbs recently gave fans the chance to win 30 second trolley-dashes where they could grab as many appliances as they could get their hands on.
There were almost 8 000 entries into the Russell Hobbs Rush between the end of November and mid-January, with all the excitement culminating in 38 appliances being won and over R250 000 being given away in cash prizes.
Here’s how it all happened:
The Russell Hobbs Rush was an in-store campaign, supported by point of sale elements, promoters, as well as digital and social media. To enter, shoppers needed to purchase any Russell Hobbs appliance during the competition period and submit their details via SMS or online.
A supporting social media campaign got fans involved by asking them to share what their strategies would be if they were to win a Russell Hobbs trolley dash.
The contestants’ strategies varied greatly – with some opting to grab the biggest boxes while others zeroed in on specific products they’d had their eye on. Upping the ante, R50 000 Golden Tickets were hidden among the appliances – and two contestants were lucky enough to grab them while piling their trolleys full of appliances.
Grand prize surprise
One of the contestants, Ashraf Hansa of Durban, arrived at the Rush anxious to do his trolley dash – only to find out that he was in fact the grand prize winner of R150 000 cash.
